I think the issue with sampling today is that they’re too familiar. Artists should be going back to the 80s to grab samples not the late 90s and early 2000s. And they should be looking for records to sample that aren’t so recognizable.

Rod Wave has such amazing potential to be a Blues artist. I wish we didn’t force everything to be “Hip Hop” for it to be mainstream. Some of these “rappers” would fit so perfectly into other categories.
