8th grader Mason Niles placed 8th overall in an incredible 4:37.74, a huge personal best that broke his own 8th grade record!
8th grader Ascot Drozdov-Armendia also had a huge PR, breaking 5 minutes for the first time in 4:54.43, the #2 all time for an 8th grade Billerica boy!
What a brave race from Gianna McGowan! In the freshman 2 mile national championship race, she took the lead early and pushed the pace in very hot conditions. She ended up 3rd overall! What a year for Gianna!
Ryan Leslie competed in his final high school 2 mile, running his 3rd fastest outdoor time of 9:12. After multiple changes in the start time, including a 12 hour postponement, he kept his composure throughout. Couldn’t be more proud of Ryan and who he has become.
What a way to end! The boys distance medley team of Patrick Hall (1200-3:10.2), Tyler Fortune (400-50.0), Shane Leslie (800-2:02.2) and Ryan Leslie (1600- 4:19.6) ran a school record time of 10:22.10 at New Balance Nationals! So proud of these guys!!
The girls had their highest finish and fastest team ever: Kylie Donahue, Hartlie Siegal and Gianna McGowan placed 🥇 out of 96 relays teams in an incredibly fast time of 35:05!
Billerica had another top 10 team of Caity Donahue, Emma Ausilio, and Anna Rossini, which was 7th!
At the MIAA Meet of Champions on Thursday in Fitchburg, the day before she graduated from BMHS, senior Nyrah Joseph defended her state title in the pentathlon and broke her own meet record with 3378 points!!
At Day 2 of the MIAA Meet of Champions, the boys ran incredible 1 miles!
Shane Leslie broke his brother Ryan’s school record (that Ryan broke in 1978 from Jeff Cullinane) by running a 4:12.63 for 3rd overall!!
