This is quite an interesting read which shows the overuse of antibiotics at the beginning stages of Covid-19. Makes me wonder how we would be able to prevent the empiric use of antibiotics in the presence of a new disease in the future. #PITT_ID23

Understandably in the first year of Covid-19, doctors wouldn’t have known it was a viral disease. But it’s still worrying to see the antibiotic resistance of H pylori, a pathogen which already has resistance to many first line treatments, rise due to use in Covid-19 #PITT_ID23

Hopefully ceftazidime remains an effective treatment during this outbreak. #PITT_ID23

Although there was no statistically significant differences between the mortality or readmission rate, it’s important to not discount the reduction in cost and how that can both save the hospital and patients money. #Pitt_ID23
