Artist L.S.Lowry lived at Pendlebury, Salford for a number of years. The town was close to coal mines, the nearest being Wheatsheaf Colliery. He included pit headgears in his paintings The Accident of 1926 and Street Scene of 1949, at Manchester City Art Gallery #Lowry #Salford
