With us now concentrating on maternal ability and performance from forage, our priorities may have changed, but we’ll still garner some very useful information from the day.

Low input, 100% forage fed Romavale genetics selling well at Longtown yesterday. Watch out for their brothers selling later in the year.

Planting a few willow whips on the riverbank before the rugby this morning. Hopefully provide some extra habitat, shade and stabilisation in the future.

Arable integration. Hopefully a win win for all. Tup Hoggs finally onto winter oats this week. Hopefully ground conditions continue to improve. This is as close to grain that our tups will get before we sell them in the autumn. #foragepowered “Bred to perform, reared to last”

Commercial gimmers have wintered well so far and enjoying some beautiful weather today. Fingers crossed for a good scan in a few weeks time.

Two quite different wintering systems but both trying to minimise the use of mechanisation and labour, and maximise the use of forage.
