After posting the below I read through the comments and noticed a couple of users suggesting this same passive-aggressive approach to dealing with problematic neighbors. Plant tons of invasive bamboo on the property line a year before move-out. Great minds think alike? 😆🤣

I was never told any of this when I started wearing contacts in the late 90s. I lost a hard contact in the pool once. Another time I splashed water into my eyes in the shower, and one of the contacts popped out unexpectedly and went down the drain.

Speaking of commandeering, another notable cassette tape I “borrowed” from my brother was The Cure’s Lovesong single. I was around 8 at the time. I remember lying on my stomach in the living room replaying both sides of the tape a million times. I was fascinated by 2 Late.

I wish I’d discovered the entire Disintegration album at that impressionable age instead of just the Lovesong single. This would’ve opened the door to experiencing Wish & WMS in “real time”. I did experience Friday I’m in Love in real time due to its ubiquity on radio in 1992.

During my last visit to Vegas a few years ago, I was really shocked to discover that many iconic buffets had closed. Apparently Covid kick-started the process & many buffets never re-opened. It’s a bit of a challenge to find eateries that are decent/not a blatant rip off.

I discovered that there were plenty of AYCE deals at Asian mom and pop places just a few minutes’ drive from the Strip in Chinatown. Staff will bring you a list of available AYCE items, you check off the ones you want & they bring it to your table. Most AYCE deals were ~$20-40.

There must be something in the water (or air) in the South Bay. So many people I grew up w/ in the South Bay appeared to have a normal upbringing. Later I found out former neighbors & friends were arrested or jailed for drug possession & other unmentionable offenses. 😬👀

This triggers me for an entirely different reason. I’d never just throw my personal belongings into a hotel drawer without having thoroughly disinfected it. Even then I’d still put a liner in it. Since this is too much trouble, it’s easier to just keep the items in my luggage.

Geriatric millennials should just be made honorary Gen X members. I’m at the far end of this spectrum - just one year shy of belonging to Gen X. There aren’t too many commonalities between 30 & 45 year olds as far as shared cultural identity - too large a gap.

That’s what happens when you release 100 variants of a single on multiple platforms - reeks of desperation. Artists are now gaming the system to artificially inflate these numbers. The real question is whether the general public will still be playing it 30 years from now?

RS prefers to wear the “goth elder statesman” hat these days, but it wasn’t too long ago that he was known for slagging off artists left and right. 😅 He modified his stance so dramatically that any kind of musical effort, no matter how cringe, is worthy of acknowledgement.
