Kenya is a leader in climate diplomacy. I was honoured to convene the first virtual inter-Ministerial technical meeting on Kenya’s amici submission to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the Advisory Opinion on the Obligations of States in respect of Climate Change.

It was an absolute honour to have acted for the Government of Namibia in this Advisory Opinion, ably assisted by Icarus Chan as junior counsel. The separate opinions of Judges Charlesworth, Iwasawa and Tladi underscore the importance of a diverse bench.

This week I say good bye to Sandra Muthoni Bucha, who has been my assistant since May. I am so pleased for her as she embarks on her next Chapter as a judicial fellow at the International Court of Justice. Warmest congratulations Muthoni

It was a pleasure to serve in the Bureau as Rapporteur under such wonderful leadership Marcelo Vázquez Bermúdez and together with dear colleagues Martins Paparinskis Vilawan Mangklatanakul and Prof Phoebe Okowa EBS. Ready for another successful session in 2025.

The end of this ILC session and I’m saying goodbye to the last of my assistants from NYU law. Thank you to ryen, one of the most diligent and enthusiastic assistants one could wish for. Thanks also to Angelina Fisher and my colleagues at NYU Law for the invaluable support.
