It was a great honor for Uganda to receive an award from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for exemplary implementation of the South-South Cooperation Project, received on behalf of my team from the FAO Director-General Dr. Qu Dongyu in Rome, Italy.

Through this project, we have worked closely with the Government of the People's Republic of China to reach over 15,000 farmers in 33 districts focusing on livestock, cereals and aquaculture.

Through this project, farmers in Uganda received new high-yielding varieties of rice, millet and sorghum. The project also established 50 rice-fish culture sites with 400,000 fish fry and 7,000 kg of feeds and availed 10 floating fish feed making machines to 10 districts.

Our collaboration also helped set up demo farms for broiler poultry and beef cattle and introduced big-ear goats from China for breeding and multiplication. Our field teams documented some of these key outcomes in this video youtu.be/ISHXQztPJpk?si…

Together with Hon. Hon. Kyakulaga Fred Bwino MP the Minister of State for Agriculture, Julius Twinamasiko the project coordinator and more technical staff, we are representing Uganda at the FAO's flagship World Food Forum during which we received the award.
