Picking up the pieces of my life after evacuation from #Sudan means catching up with now widely scattered friends. Amazing story from Maria Kallipeti & Tolis Asmanis of their escape after 2 weeks trapped in their #Khartoum home in the midst of heavy fighting.

With help from Sufi leader, Sheikh Alamin, Maria & Tolis and friend Chris Calios navigated battle lines to reach safety. Sadly, they were the last of the #Greek community in #Khartoum. Diversity and inter-faith cooperation are likely to be victims of the #Sudan war.

After the anxious escape, a wonderful arrival awaited Maria & Tolis in #Greece that included a personal welcome from Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis and other officials. So glad to know they are safely out of #Sudan. Bravo and best wishes!
