We're glad to see this piece in CAMRA's magazine, saying that our home from home, the Britons Protection pub on Great Bridgewater Street, has been saved with a ten-year agreement between the management team responsible for its unique and much-loved style and owners Star Heineken.

Year 6 have been working on their oracy skills this afternoon when exploring different articles and artefacts from the Peterloo Massacre. We have been instigators, builders and challengers when discussing our ideas. Voice 21 Oracy

From today until Friday, visit Manchester Grammar School Archives for an exhibition, Stories from the #Archive, showcasing the rich history of MGS. Discover fascinating narratives, from pioneering contributions to computing and a BAFTA award to the Peterloo Massacre and the impact of World Wars.

The most powerful volcanic eruption in recorded history took place in Tambora, Indonesia, #OTD 1815. Its effects led to the ‘year without a summer’ in Europe the following year, a harvest failure deepening hardships that contributed to the Peterloo protest in Manchester in 1819.

D. #OTD 1872 Samuel Bamford, radical reformer, poet & writer. Present at & imprisoned after Peterloo, though not involved in violence. Memorial obelisk in Middleton: “Bamford was a reformer when to be so was unsafe, and he suffered for his faith."
