The Cricket Society is saddened by the passing of the great writer, Eric Midwinter, who contributed much to the Society over the years & won the The Cricket Society / Lord's Cricket Ground Book of the Year for ‘Red Shirts & Roses’ in 2005. We will expand on Eric’s life over the next few days.

A lovely The Cricket Society Day at The Cricket. Kent Cricket v Durham Cricket was a walk in the park for the visitors at #beckenham - good enthusiastic company & a great view. Kent Cricket provided a great facility & spirited service not to mention a fine lunch. #80thisyear

Another great day on the road with the CCR. Bears dominated for periods against Middlesex Cricket at Rugby School Sports with a packed crowd lapping up some terrific cricket before they collapsed at the end. The peaceful Ambience was off the scale. #countycricket

Another good win for Cricket Society XI at #horshamtrinitycc with us knocking up 297/7 in 40 overs with the unlikely sight of Peter Hardy hitting a boundary. The home team responded with 246/7 in their 40. Hot but rewarding day.

Great win for Cricket Society XI at Warlingham Cricket Club who as always were terrific hosts. They made a sporting declaration at 230/3 off 41 & we cruised home by 9 wickets in 33.2 overs. #davidfarrington an unbeaten ton.

Many thanks to South Nutfield CC for laying on a great day for Cricket Society XI in their cricket week. We declared at 215/8 and then bowled out oppo for 165. 6/56 for #anishshah - it was a cracking game at a very good club who deserve every success. The Cricket Society #clubcricket

First trip of the season to Vicarage Road for an excellent game as Watford Football Club 2 Southhampton 2 saw an exciting game. Irakunda’s free kick was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

One of the most exciting things about this Nottinghamshire CCC side is its formidable pace attack, fitting for the team of Broad, Voce & #HaroldLarwood. His story is poignantly told in #DuncanHamilton's superb biog - my review County Cricket Matters 👇🏽 Josh Tongue Lyndon James Peter Hardy
