Despite the first significant snow storm of the season here in NH and MA yesterday, it didn't prevent the great @powersgallery from delivering and installing "Meadows" 24 x 36 in its new, warm home outside Boston. Huge thanks to Larry and Kimberly for the perfect pairing of this

The creeping shadows of trees outside the picture had just about reached the yellow barn, and ultimately would have had I been there an hour or two later. This is a scene in a small, rural town in Vermont I came across years ago, and may (or may not) still be there. “Westwardly

If you're looking for a gift (for someone, or for yourself!), I've compiled a collection of small works that can be purchased directly through the site. Each piece will come with a shiny new signed copy of the studio coffee table book! To view available work, click here:

As is the case with many abandoned, or underutilized farm structures, nature has a way of taking back the landscape. “Growing Close” 30 x 40 o/c.

New piece that plays two different tones of the same color against each other. This wasn't the plan originally, but sometimes fewer colors, but more variations of a color, creates a nice sense of depth and harmony. "Turquoise Sky" 36 x 48 o/c

Many of the local farms in our part of New Hampshire are still active, with many maintaining flocks of sheep that require containment to keep from roaming into woods or neighbor’s properties. “Sheep Pen” 24 x 36 o/c

This old house, in Harwich, MA on Cape Cod, has been abandoned and decaying since I was a kid, living just a few miles away. Recently, a fence was put up around it, and excavation machinery was recently brought to the property. Something is obviously happening there...either

This meadow, viewable from the studio, is in a clearing where stands of tall white pines block the sun and create large swaths of shade in the morning and afternoon, allowing only small slice of light to shine through. “Neighboring Meadow” 30 x 40 o/c . #trees #morningsun

While I'm not much of a New Year's Resolution guy, I do try to start the new year as an opportunity to start fresh, in personal, professional, and philosophical ways. My thanks to all here, and sincere wishes that you have a safe, happy and healthy 2026! This is the final piece

This piece started as a very different composition, and was headed in a direction I didn't like, so I stopped working on it for a few days. That break allowed me to see that the landscape element was what the piece was all about, not the other stuff I had put in. Seems

New piece based on some old dinghies I came across years ago on the Cape. You can see many seemingly ownerless little skiffs all over the Cape, often on the shores of bays and inlets, or on the salt creeks, brought in by high tides, then left there when the tide recedes.

One of my favorite artists growing up (and now) is Jamie Wyeth. As a kid, I studied books of his work, many pieces of which were lighthouses, including the house and light he owns in Tenants Harbor, Maine. I follow an instagram feed by his niece, @victoriabrowningwyeth, where she

There are many old farms nearby, many have become abandoned and nature has proceeded to close in on the structures. Over the years, saplings and bushes grow and begin to obscure the barns, sheds and farmhouses that make up the property. This particular location is in Vermont, and

I always appreciate the hard work and design skills @powersgallery in Acton, MA (Boston) for their ability to perfectly pair a painting with an interior. Here are several recent installations in private residences in the Boston area.

When I lived in Vermont, the house I rented sat in a low valley, near the Mad River and flanked by two large hills. It’s location made the short days of winter even shorter, delaying sunrise and bringing sunset early. This setting reminded me of that old farmhouse. “Plumridge” 48

The neighbor’s barn looks very different today, under nearly 2 feet of snow, but beneath that white blanket, the landscape’s true colors wait for warmer days. “Oaks” 24 x 30

New piece based on an old farm, somewhere in Massachusetts, which I came across a few years ago. The mid afternoon sun gave the structures a gold glow and divided the scene with the large maple that seemed, somehow, to cast shade in both directions. “North Pasture” 36 x 36 o/c
