We want a Byres Road that has a pleasant walking environment, safe cycling provision, and low volumes of motor traffic.

Heartened to see lots of Hillhead pupils cycling at the end of the school day. Sunken-hearted that there was no #spacefordistancing due to parents parked on the pavement (engines idling) & University of Glasgow’s failure to provide safe infrastructure as part of its £billion redevelopment

Let’s celebrating a year of pedestrian and cycle use of the Kelvin Way. 🎉 Today please bring poems, pictures, photos, objects, chalk drawings or whatever else you'd like to create, and attach them to the railings on Kelvin Way just next to the bandstand. (1/3)

We need Glasgow City Council to step up and provide safe COP26 Conference Active Travel Lanes, direct & protected from motor vehicles. Sticking up signs for a 2 mile diversion is simply not enough. Coordination with police around the use of Finnieston ST & Expressway Cycle Path is needed.

It was claimed there wasn’t enough space for cycling infrastructure to make this route accessible to more… Instead of doing nothing, it was decided that best solution was strip of different shade tarmac with paint… So, that you can be squeezed into your way lane with no hope.

Thank you to everyone in Glasgow for signing our petition-it will be heard at council on Thursday and we hope to ensure that the proposed lengthy diversions are made more direct, and importantly, protected, so that everyone can continue to use sustainable transport during COP26.

The council diversions for cycling walking and wheeling are so convoluted and poorly signposted we felt we had to do our public duty to help residents, activist and delegates find their way around during #COP26. Sustainable transport is the future for our climate. 👀 #DireVision

Glasgow active travel campaigners have welcomed the move, saying it'll help congestion and air quality, as well as encouraging people to cycle. space4people ByresRd say surveys found around 70% of shoppers arrived on Byres Road on public transport, bike or on foot.

space4people ByresRd Glasgow's west end is home to a large student population. Many have welcomed the plans. They say Byres Road's pavements are often incredibly congested and highlighted long wait times at pedestrian crossings.

Crisscrossing Glasgow for a few things today and had to see it for myself. First phase of Byres Road redevelopment is looking sooo good. 👌
