A stunning autochrome from 1915: a young lady - representing the Buddhist goddess Quan - holds a lotus flower whilst sitting on a giant lily pad. I've enhanced this striking shot by Frankin Price Knott which was taken in colour 110 years ago. It is not colourised.

Ten years ago, former German chancellor Angela Merkel famously said, "We’ll manage it," as Germany allowed hundreds of thousands of displaced people to become legal immigrants. How do refugees feel about living in the country today?

1 September 1981. Nazi war criminal Albert Speer, Hitler’s architect, died (aged 76). He falsely claimed he had no knowledge of the Holocaust at the Nuremberg war trial thereby escaping a death sentence. He was released from prison in 1966 and made a fortune from his memoirs.

I know there's a rule in UK media that migrants and asylum seekers must be on every front page and take up at least the first half of any news bulletin - but not sure this 👇 will receive quite so much coverage today as it doesn't whip up support for Reform ?
