Last week I presented on behalf of Doig River FN to the Fort St John Chamber of Commerce on Doig's future urban reserve ambitions in the city. Doig's urban land holdings total 300 acres + are almost done the ATR process. We call it an indigenous stimulus package to the region!

Community open house to end Day 1 of the "plan-in-a-week" engagement for the Growing Winkler Secondary Plan. This secondary plan will guide future land use, development, transportation and more in Winkler's fringe area lands, acting as a tool for sustainable growth management.

The office I started in at Urban is managed by 3 women (2 senior engineers and 1 senior planner), my first mentor within the company was a woman and my career has been continually shaped by strong female practitioners across our offices that I get to work with on a daily basis.

Nobody that's been through the program is surprised at the continued dominance. It's an unparalleled culture founded on work ethic and being competitors.

Had an opportunity to facilitate a government to government meeting between Northen Rockies Regional Municipality + Fort Nelson First Nations. Important relationship building while discussing partnership opportunities for economic development, climate change, service delivery etc

Feel like Manitoba is doing the right things. Most new covid cases are travel related, people really buying into social distancing, info sharing has been good + idiot panic buying seems to be less intensive here. Good sense of resiliency, at least among circles im connected to.

As most of our staff across all offices are working from home, I decided company was needed in the winnipeg office. Our new hire is a certified good boy + will be our new Pawject Coordinator for the foreseeable future. His passions include dog parks + K9-friendly street design.

Started my career in a true Boom-Bust region in Canada and learned early on the value of slow periods, which provide opportunities for municipalities to get their ducks in a row by completing valuable community and infrastructure planning work before growth resumes (1/2) #mbpoli

At then end of COVID, a big Federal stimulus package is going to come. Municipalities with shovel ready projects with all planning and design work complete will be the ones getting this cash. Now is the time to get that initial work done or risk being left behind. (2/2)

5 years ago Saulteau FN identified industrial development on-reserve as a key economic development priority. Since then we worked with Saulteau to complete concept/detailed planning + engineering. 2 years later the park has been developed with its first tenants moved in #FNEcDev

if we are going to sell parks that are proving difficult to manage or maintain (which is something i generally support) i hope Manitoba First Nations get first right of refusal and/or opportunity to acquire park land through various TLE claims that have yet to be fully honored.

Exciting to see Doig River FN's new Tea Dance Arbor continue to take form. Doig received funding through the Investing in Canada's Infrastructure program to get this project paid for. Key to getting $ was identifying the arbor as a key priorty in their Community Development Plan.
