I’ll be leaving eri soon for pastures new. Downloading data from loggers on #MunsaryPeatlands was my first day of fieldwork when I joined back in 2016 so a revisit today felt very apropos. Many happy 🌤 (& some miserable ⛈) days spent on this bog with Dr Chris Marshall.
Great to see that Dr. Henk Pieter Sterk hard work in the field has produced this new paper. Especially enjoyed our fieldwork that summer in The Flow Country!
This week our highlighted eri @UHI_NH UHI Research UHI PhD Researcher from our Peatland Research Theme is Rob McHenry Rob McHenry who is looking at the impact of peatland tracks from forestry and wind farms on peatland ecosystems! #peattwitter RSPB Science SSE - A Better World of Energy
Flow Country Research shows the carbon dynamics of near natural and degraded blanket bog eri @UHI_NH UHI Research peatland theme showcase!
Thanks to everyone who attended our @UHI_NH UHI Research eri peatland showcase last night! We will highlighting each speakers work each day for the next few weeks so stay tuned. First up an overview of blanket peatland from Dr Chris Marshall and Flow Country Research! #peat twitter #peat
🚨PhD Opportunity🚨Wild about wetlands? ☑️ Totally into trees?☑️ Want to work with an awesome team?☑️ Come join us for a #PhD in the beautiful south west UK (University of Plymouth) to work in Wet Woodlands Research Network - understudied yet really important carbon rich ecosystems!

Our new paper on “Object oriented data analysis of surface motion time series in peatland landscapes” can now be found on ArXiv (arxiv.org/abs/2209.14187). Co-authored with Ian Dryden, Chris Fallaize, Flow Country Research, Andrew Bradley, David Large and Andrew Sowter. (1/3)
We had a great time presenting our range of applications for monitoring peatland using InSAR last week at the UK Landscape Decisions Uni of Nottingham #WeAreUoN eri workshop. Applications included classification, changes in condition, landslides and fire risks.
Great chance for Peatland ECR Action Team and PhD researchers to share tips and exchange knowledge in a friendly setting about all things peaty. Deadline coming up for abstracts and cheap registration! Doesn’t have to be about The Flow Country anything #peat will be well received @peattwitter
Great to host Rochefort Line in The Flow Country week and show her Sam Webber PhD research on peatland margins on the beautiful RSPB North Scotland Forsinard Knockfin Heights. She also managed to capture #bogdog Finn showing us how to do a veg survey! #peattwitter UHI Research
Line Rochefort visit in Scotland: impressive restoration of afforested blanket bogs in The Flow Country led by Roxane Andersen and RSPB North Scotland. After cutting trees, incorporating them into the peat and doing a more thorough job of blocking the ditches, Sphagnum is growing well!
Registration now open for flow country conference, great chance to get the peatland community together in the fabulous The Flow Country! Looking forward to seeing what new research has happened over the last 5 years Peatland ECR Action Team #peat #peat lands #peat twitter
New #peatpaper for #peattwitter showing how peatland surface motion by #insar can be used to indicate peat slide risk at sites across Ireland up to 24 months prior to failure mires-and-peat.net/pages/volumes/…
