I walked by the same spot today where I tweeted about two days ago and realize they are not circles but mirrors that reflects half circles!!!! Its so cool. The mirrors and the concrete floor it reflects give the structure feeling of hollowness, makes it taller then it seems.

This is the first curved window I saw on campus, hidden in the back of lobby 10. I find the structure softer and less angler than if all windows are rectangular. It definitely echoes with the great dome on top and speaks for the specialness of the dome. #rectangularity #roundness

I was absolutely amazed by this lobby behind building 4. It is an open space between 3 buildings enclosed by the infinite corridor. A secretive garden in a sense, it gives me a sense of belonging that I discovered it myself and thus, can be part of it. #communitybydesign

Adding onto the last tweet, grid becomes 3 dimensional here with overpasses between buildings. It adds intricacy and connectedness to the space, thus brings another dimension to my previous understanding of grid, which is both organization and connection. #gridmatters

Light, materials, structure all come together here in the center of the pic. A student walking across the overpass was reflected to the grid glass windows that project the whole scene. The intégration of human, nature, and architecture brings wholeness to the scene.

The stairs cut diagonally across the lobby and linearly connects the two floor (as opposed to vertically by an elevator). Yet the curvature of the stairs breaks the linearity and adds fluidity to the structure. Very insteresrimg design. #linesoncampus #curvature

The puzzle like shape of the sofa combined with the bright red square cushion and corresponding carpet patterns gives the section a toy-like nature. It creates a relaxing and playful atmosphere that the whole community can share. #communitybydesign #wherearethecolors

positioning of head lights disrupts the linearity of the hall, creates a wave like patterns on the walls. liquidity of the space is suddenly apparent as opposed to the static aura of a dormitary hallway. Such sporadicity often breeds creativity. #linesoncampus #breakthelines

Sitting on the bench and saw this sand pool with a play set. First floor Simmons is mostly grey and beige, this pool is the most colorful spot of the scene, bringing liveliness and childlike fun to the building. Colors a lot of time induce vibrancy and motion. #wherearethecolors

wall paintings at Simmons study lounge: usually cartoons and colorful math equations. The room is pretty much colorless except the paintings. Expanding on the last tweet that colors bring vibrancy, such energy often stems from the human mind and imagination. #wherearethecolors

I accidentally bumped into this corner. The door opens to a stair that goes down into a lounge space. The cave-like character brings enclosure, secrecy, and intimacy. The curved wall gives the space a unique shape and identity within the community. #communitybydesign

Each unit of rooms shares a stone pillar in front of the doors. Combined with colors, all units have its unique facade to designate its identity. They celebrate diversity and create a welcoming atmosphere to differences. #communitybydesign

More obvious wave mimicking design using light and curved wall. The space doesn’t have a functional purpose except to provide a visual detour from the straight hallway and spells the character of the community as playful and unconventional. #communitybydesign #linearity

Colors designate the different offices in the building. Branching from a concrete pillar in the lobby, each line leads to a office that uses the same color for its interior design. Colors are identities and differentiate the roles they play. #wherearethecolors #communitybydesign

There are 3 coordinate systems in the picture provided by the grid on the glass window and its 2 adjacent planes. One single grid system can be interpreted differently given light conditions and surfaces, so are rules. Says a lot about organization of society. #gridmatters

colored dots spill out from the windows and door: subtle, non-functional, scattered, almost an afterthought to mix things up and instill sporadicity after everything is constructed, just like occasional creativity within a generally fixed societal framework. #wherearethecolors

contrast between 3 planes of the hallway: glass separated by white panels, lab windows, and clear glass extends the hallway to the outside, resembling an open tube. Different materials of building 12 and the dome it faces both juxtaposes and integrate old and new. #linearity

Here color actually become more then aesthetics: clean room uses filtered light to prevent UV damage. Unlike the other designs on campus, when colors are substantially integrated, they embodies the buildings, taking on a much more prominent role. #wherearethecolors

traces of an uninstalled structure: horizontal indentation with blue dyes on the grass. Color is a recollection of physical conditions of an object and its environment: weathers, pressure, and the industrial processes. Color tells the life of an object. #wherearethecolors
