Donald Clark (no flags, no hashtags) Paul Bacsich KMi The Open University Just copying the link to our #ML based learning analytics tool here (which I put in another reply) - KMi built in 2012 and has been deployed to all our #AssociateLecturers for many years analyse.kmi.open.ac.uk Few comparisons in UK higher Ed I would claim.
A pertinent article by Thomas Williams, with insight from Diana Laurillard, @PBacsich, Ben Williamson and Clay Shirky on what the future holds for edtech in higher education. Could AI matching learners to skills deficits be part of the answer?

Neil Mosley Useful collection of reminders. The one hardest to do anything about is your #4 - it is very irritating when screens cannot be printed out in a readable format.
Re 'beauty' see advance-he.ac.uk/knowledge-hub/… for old still-relevant research on how students (mis)judge online resources

Paul Bacsich Donald Clark (no flags, no hashtags) Hi Paul, some nice ideas which we've discussed and been working on in KMi for many years. Have already flagged that the statements about The Open University have little basis in fact.
Paul Bacsich Thanks Paul that’s what I thought and it’s good to know the facts around those complexities. I expect the open border narrative will still persist.
Donald Clark (no flags, no hashtags) Paul Bacsich From what I know of his custom, I broadly agree. Will look forward to see how he and colleagues develop the new AI platform.
Paul Bacsich Donald Clark (no flags, no hashtags) Worth debating. My concern is the focus on AI technology. OU survived not as a 'TV University' (it never was) but by its open access mission, tutorial support, and innovative high-quality teaching. Sure, we must experiment with new tech in HE, but not build a uni around it.
Not on Twitter much these days but wonder on thoughts from Vicki Dale Sarah Honeychurch @sheilmcn Paul Bacsich Professor Jo-Anne Murray 🐴 💻 Helen Beetham 💙 @[email protected] and many others 😀
Donald Clark (no flags, no hashtags) Paul Bacsich We can have an interesting discussion on what holds the OU, and other unis, back ( hint: a Lego house where the ground floor can't be changed without dismantling the levels above). But we need to start from educational vision and strategy, then bring in tech to support it.
Paul Bacsich Me for real... calculator is a number generator, GPT a word generator. Both utile & both invoked over reaction in people who who live almost entirely in a culture of complaint!
