I was the guest editor-in-chief for the special theme dossier on ‘The Indonesian struggle for freedom’ in the latest issue of Indische Letteren (available via Uitgeverij Verloren). Originally planned as a full-fledged themed issue, the Covid-19 pandemic got in the way. 1/5

The final contribution is by Pauline Stoltz. Her contribution takes Adriaan van Dis’ novel Indische duinen (1994) and Alfred Birney’s De tolk van Java (2016) as a starting point to clarify how the Indonesian War of Independence is remembered transnationally. 4/5
