Sun shining. Sky blue. Daffodils rampant. Birds boisterous. Passers-by smiling again. The last day of meteorological winter. All of which means it’s the onset of the Pimm’s and Jaffa Cake season (or it is in my world). I’ll be reasonably optimistic until Wednesday : )

Very sad to read that Patrick Van Wanzeele has passed away. One of the original ‘Diggers’ I had the pleasure and honour to work with him and his team on the BBC archaeology doco ‘Forgotten Battlefield’ in 2001.

Breaking Firefighters are battling a major blaze in Co Kerry. The gorse fire is on a stretch of road between Kenmare and Sneem. Motorists are advised to avoid the area for safety reasons.

Deeply saddened to hear about the death of Sir Kenneth Bloomfield. I have known Ken, and his wife, Lady Elizabeth, for many years! Much will be said about his contribution to Public Life in Northern Ireland! I can pay him no higher compliment than to say that he was a gentleman!
