Had a great week working with #2025NHLDraft prospect Alex Huang of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Jason Zhou of the Pickering Panthers, appreciate the effort put in every day and enjoyed watching the progress made from Monday to Friday! 💪👍

Week 3 was all backward skating specifically based around offensive applications. Posture/upper body control allows players to receive & make passes while continuing to accelerate backwards. All players should strive for confidence in backwards skating regardless of position! 👍

Week 4 featured neutral zone patterning specifically focusing on lane change/lateral crossovers to find pockets of space while maintaining speed up ice. Examples here involve passive defenders allowing players an opportunity to test both timing and execution of lateral launch. 👍

A shortened week 5 featured work on agility specifically for use in pivot situations. The ability to effectively connect a variety of edges together while pivoting and understand the value in lateral mobility through pivots gives players lots of options for different situations.

Final week of the summer program expanded on previous agility work and applied it into small area skating. Escapes and deception on retrievals were covered while stressing the importance of acceleration on exits as well as posture helping to connect shaving/skating to passing. 👍
