Astonishing levels of heat expected in France on Monday with temperatures possibly reaching 44/45°C. To be clear - This is NOT “normal” summer hot weather. The first time France exceeded 45°C was in 2019. This heat can be dangerous even for healthy / fit people.

Precisely this: “Instead of criminalising peaceful demonstrators, the Government should be focusing on taking immediate and unequivocal action to put a stop to Israel’s genocide and ending any risk of UK complicity in it.”

You’re proud? Are you serious? As a regulator you let a literal *island* of sewage filth build-up for decades without lifting a finger to stop it & now you’re proud that you provided “support” for it to be cleaned-up? Another example of why the Environment Agency needs to be

In other words, 2.7 million people are having their wages subsidised by the state, just to live. Or, 100s of 1000s of companies are having their WAGE BILL subsidised by the state, just to increase profits.

Tesco makes nearly £4bn profit. Nearly 50% of its workforce are on Universal Credit, receiving about £600m a year. Why isn't Tesco paying?

It's moments like these that keep us going - a water vole on the #RiverVer, on a recent summer evening. We love our chalkstream!

Somebody tell me that, debt-laden as it is, we are not going to sell Thames Water to China. I can’t think of anything more crucial to a country than the control of its water supply. Madness.

Spring source of the Babingley Norfolk’s finest #ChalkStream never witnessed it so low🧐the level is usually 20cm higher & comes out with greater force. RARE CHALK STREAMS drying up all over Norfolk & still the EnvAgencyAnglia allows abstraction Anglian Water Hosepipe ban yet ?

Ian Hall (@parrog3) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Horrible for you to be witnessing. EnvAgencyAnglia has lost control region wide. Could and should be doing more to protect our chalk streams but allowing the water companies to run riot. Chris Hinchliff MP Feargal Sharkey

Ian Hall EnvAgencyAnglia Chris Hinchliff MP Feargal Sharkey The West Norfolk Chalk Aquifer is heavily over abstracted with at least 15 Anglian Water boreholes that I know of + countless boreholes feeding the irrigation equipment flooding fields for Potatoes 🥔 The EnvAgencyAnglia even allows direct abstraction from the Gaywood River Revival 🤬

We have 🥔 being irrigated through heatwaves in Cat Ditch catchment. The chalk stream is dry in non drought conditions. 3 major abstractors to find out why and EnvAgencyAnglia not bothered cos they changed WFD monitoring pt below a major STW . Flow regime problems disappear!

News! Feargal Sharkey and his fishing club are threatening to take the Environment Agency to court after they were accused of illegally abstracting an important stretch of the River Lea theguardian.com/environment/20…

Caroline Lucas (@carolinelucas) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Great piece from Helena Horton - shameful that not only is Govt *deliberately* choosing not to keep up with EU standards, in some areas it’s actively planning to go backwards - eg the Planning & Infrastructure Bill which is driving coach & horses through nature protection laws

Just a second Chris Philp MP, remind us who the Immigration Minister was who first decided to use the Bell Hotel as asylum accommodation? While Labour works to fix the broken asylum system we inherited, all the Tories can offer is rank hypocrisy.
