Complete surprise to have a Cuckoo at Skippool tonight. The bird sang briefly after flying over the river but a great patch and year tick ✅ Other highlights included 2 GWE, 45 Whimbrel and 3 Common terns Fylde Bird Club

Wood Warbler at Stanley Park this afternoon. Only heard it once in over an hour but the bird showed well intermittently. My first here so a great Fylde tick ✅

Great afternoon spent Lancashire Wildlife Trust Winmarleigh Moss. Highlights included 3 Ruff, 2 Marsh Harrier, Yellow Wagtail, Hobby and a singing Tree Pipit in a nearly identical location to the previous year. A real gem on the Fylde for anybody who hasn’t visited Fylde Bird Club

A short video of 2 of a total 5 Black Guillemot seen from the Great Orme this morning. Complemented by the usual suspects in good numbers along the cliff colonies.

What a stunning bird. One of 7 Dotterel that walked their way right past me whilst I sat patiently at the summit of an undisclosed site last evening.

Some great local birds this morning. A large flock of 63 Arctic terns off Starr Gate, Spotted Flycatcher in Stanley park and my personal favourite, a Garden Warbler on patch in the Community Orchard on the pond trail. Fylde Bird Club

The Temminck’s Stint was still present WWT Martin Mere for its 9th day, showing distantly from the Tomlinson hide. My 190th species for Lancashire so far this year, target 200 is on!

Absolute scenes - Whilst doing a bat survey at Marton Mere this evening, we were interrupted by a singing Spotted Crake! Still in disbelief 😳 Joe Makepeace Fylde Bird Club

We very nearly called it quits on this mornings sea watch off Starr Gate, with very little of anything moving on the tide. That was until we got great views of a Black-Throated Diver ✅ shortly followed by a Black Guillemot ✅ both firsts for me here. Fylde Bird Club

My first bird in Suffolk yesterday - a life tick in the form of a Nightingale ✅ right by the entrance to RSPB Minsmere 🌍 yesterday. Amazing listening to it singing its heart out throughout the day.

Finally managed good views of a pair of Stone Curlew, another one of my trip targets. Showing well at an undisclosed location only 5 minutes away from where we’re staying!

Watching multiple pairs of Dartford Warblers on Westleton Heath was a trip highlight as it is a bird only dreamt of up in Lancashire. This bird in particular was quite happy to show itself well in the sunshine.
