Another species that I’ve had the pleasure of describing is Pomacentrus vatosoa, a beautiful species endemic to Madagascar. The name vatosoa is Malagasy for “precious stone”, given after the pearlescent almost opal-like scales in this fish, unusual for Pomacentrus species.

Between annual review, progress toward tenure review, P&T review, and post tenure review, you’ll spend 20% of your career reviewing why your colleagues aren’t getting more research done - while at the same time not getting your own research done as determined by peer review.
