OTD in 1966, SSG Barry Sadler debuted his song “Ballad of the Green Berets” on the Ed Sullivan Show. SSG Sadler served w/ 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) as a Special Forces Medic and co-wrote the Ballad with Robin Moore who wrote the book “The Green Berets.”

Made it through my annual Army hearing test without getting the rebuke: "only press the button when you hear a tone." Sign of maturity?
