@leouieda @volcano_will David Pyle @VolcKaren Machine-learning hype aside, I think Verde looks great for estimating explosive eruption volume. It's a "thickness" surface interpolation problem. Dr Sam Engwell has paper on spline methods. I've used GRASS GIS. Tuning parameters is hard/subjective, so Verde could really help.

Hydrothermal explosions occur when water suddenly flashes to steam underground. They are relatively common in Yellowstone. An explosion similar to that of today also occurred in Biscuit Basin on May 17, 2009.
