🚱Many areas in Joburg are still battling with no access to water. The Department of Water and Sanitation recently approved additional water abstractions for Rand Water after the DA called for this action on 11 Feb. It is currently unclear if the water has been channelled into

The DA can reveal Rand Water has not increased pumping to Gauteng metros, despite DWS granting a temporary licence increase to draw more from the Vaal. Residents were promised a surge in supply. Taps are still dry. Rand Water must act now. #GautengWaterCrisis

Our demands to Rand Water: - Explain why pumping hasn’t increased. - Publish a ramp-up plan with timelines. - Agree an operational plan with metros to prioritise high-lying & end-of-line areas. No more dashboards while taps run dry. #Gauteng

Frustration is mounting in Johannesburg's Coronationville and Westbury, where residents say they have been without running water for nearly three weeks. The complaints come in the wake of Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi's State of the Province Address. Tune in to #eNCA, channel

VdV When I find out I will share. This is why we need transparent and direct communications from RW. If there are problems they should let us know. If there aren't, they have even more to answer for.

Cllr Kyle Jacobs (@kyledjacobs) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Why are Panyaza Lesufi, Executive Mayor of the City Of Joburg and Rand Water so determined to keep residents deprived of water? Our dams are overflowing. Yet Rand Water refuses to increase pumping while communities run dry. This is not a shortage of bulk water. This is a failure of political will.

Responsibilities of ward councillors in Gauteng far exceed other provinces. On average a single ward councillor is responsible for 28 000 residents in Gauteng. That's average. So imagine when there is no water in a ward the pressure that is felt from thousands of residents.

💰 The DA stopped the VAT hike last year, and the 2026 Budget shows the fruits of that fight, delivering real relief for households! 🏡 You can sell your home and keep up to R3 million tax-free, and you can now save R46 000 a year in your tax-free savings account.
