A lot of folks in TX blame hazy skies on fires in Mexico or Saharan dust, but huge coal-burning sources of haze are in our own backyards. Thankfully a Sierra Club lawsuit was just settled to force U.S. EPA to make a decision on the haze proposal from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. sierraclub.org/press-releases…

Monitoring shows that haze in Texas is mostly caused by coal plants. That's one reason why these should have to install cost-effective pollution control measures. The Pirkey coal plant in east Texas was demolished today, after years of Sierra Club advocacy. SWEPCO announced retirement for the plant back in 2020, but it finally came down today. One more TX coal plant down, 13 remaining. Go Beyond Coal! kltv.com/video/2024/10/…
