The complexity and mystery still surrounding fertilization is astounding. This great paper from Steven and crew help to demystify the interaction slightly by solving the structure and discussing the implications of the human TMEM95 protein! Super cool!

Proud of my role in Duo Xu’s amazing work to flip influenza hemagglutinin (HA) on its “head”. This novel immunofocusing method occludes the HA head by adhering it to alum adjuvant while exposing the conserved HA stem, made possible with some ingenious antigen engineering!

Endless waves of innovation emanate from Peter Kim’s lab ⁦Sarafan ChEM-H⁩! In this preprint they show insertion of oligoD into viral protein antigens orients them on alum and sculpts the antibody response, creating more effective vaccines biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Have you ever done an “omic” (proteomic/transcriptomic/etc) experiment and wondered why we adjust p-values? Or how it works? Are you annoyed that you lose hits and want to avoid this? Want a 🔥 new R pkg for adjusting w/sensitivity? This paper is for YOU! pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.102…

It's an incredible day for structure-based vaccine design, and I'm thrilled to see our prefusion RSV F antigen get approved as the first RSV vaccine. Still more work to do to reduce the RSV disease burden, but this will help! Congrats Barney Graham, MD, PhD! cnn.com/2023/05/03/hea…
