About last night... @Svenhansonbritt made us spread whipped cream on smoked bread and somehow made it sound healthy? Exceptional time at Oxeye Restaurant, where the tasting menu is obvs the main event but the cutlery is a total delight.

I visited Alchemilla this year & it is an asset to UK hospitality - a place & business to celebrate, full of passion, care & knowledge. It’s creating careers & skills to be proud of. But what does our government do? Kill it with VAT & unregulated energy costs. It is heartbreaking

This is an interesting thread. I'm not a massive fan for paying sizable deposits (and in my line of work I do a lot of that) but I've understood it as a reasonable response to the problem of no-shows. Sven-Hanson's thread backs that up.

I love the GFG Local Restro awards but using them to take a hatchet to longer menus or charging what it costs to stay in business is tone deaf, as is suggesting chronically understaffed restaurants revert to phone bookings. Really doesn’t help any restaurant local or otherwise.
