Thanksgiving is about giving thanks for what we have and giving back to our communities. Our family was grateful to be back at DC Central Kitchen to volunteer for the holiday.

Yesterday, Doug and I spoke to U.S. service members deployed overseas to wish them a happy Thanksgiving. They have extraordinary skill, discipline, and dedication. They are an essential part of our nation’s strength. And we are forever grateful to them.

Doug and I celebrated Small Business Saturday with a visit to Bold Fork Books, a culinary bookshop in DC. Thank you to Clementine, Sam, and the whole team for showing us your amazing cookbook collection and for bringing joy and flavor to the community.

I still use my mother’s copy of Joy of Cooking. I was delighted to see it on the shelves when I stopped by Bold Fork Books on Small Business Saturday. Join me to support our small businesses this holiday season and throughout the year.

As the head of the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, I have met with survivors, advocates, students, and families who have been impacted by gun violence. I am proud to stand alongside them in the fight to save lives and keep our communities safe.
