Tokyo Indies really is a fantastic event - Alvin was very welcoming when I presented Atama there last year and every time I attend I meet new cool people. If you're at all adjacent to indie games and in Tokyo the third week of the month I highly recommend checking it out.

I get teary eyes extremely easily with fiction. Embarrassingly so - even for the most sappy cliched material. But when there's very sad personal stuff going on in RL it's almost like it's physically impossible for me to cry. Is this weird?

FWIW: 1. This *is* translation. It's a pun and they found a pun that's surprisingly close in the target language. Literary translators have been doing that for centuries. 2. I'd argue interviews are one thing that should not be "localized", in the gaming-biz sense of the term.

I guess I'm legally obligated to buy Kodaka games day 1, and 20 minutes in, Rain Code sure is as DR as it gets without being DR. The protagonist even sounds like Megumi Ogata (though it's not actually her).

Hot Kodaka translation take: translating the (proper name) 世界規模の未解決事件 to "Great Global Mystery" is almost as bad as 超高校級 -> Ultimate. Kodaka has a phrasing style, don't squash it!
