Let me welcome a new feature on OER: World Number 1 Streaks. It was looooong overdue, to be fair, for now it features only the official values, soon it will allow the corrected values, once they can be used. openerarankings.com/Statistics?Sta… All the number 1 records in one single page.

Battle for #2 in Indian Wells: 2 Jannik Sinner ITA 7920 3 Carlos Alcaraz ESP 7815 4 Daniil Medvedev RUS 7125 In any case, big chance for Djokovic to distance himself by more than 1000 points. A SF reached in IW is a guarantee of this regardless of who wins the title.

A more graphical way to show the Battle for #2 - Medvedev needs to win and Alcaraz and Sinner to not make SF. - Alcaraz needs to reach at least the QF and outperform Sinner by 2 rounds and Medvedev to not win (or reach the SF). - Sinner and Alcaraz might battle for it in the SF.

And Alcaraz wins the Battle for #2 and preserves his spot: (Alcaraz has the least to defend out of all three in Miami, so he is looking good to keep the spot ahead of the clay season too).

7-12 ranked players are now all within 500 pts. Hurkacz started the week in pole position, though Dimitrov is ahead right now. Top 5 is intangible this week, and Shelton (currently live #13 is 605 pts behind Tsitsipas #12).

🚨 Jannik Sinner secures #1 after Wimbledon too with his first career title in Halle. It's his 4th ATP 500 title within 52 weeks to be counted towards his total.

Anyone have an inspired name for what Novak Djokovic has achieved? Any catchy name for this unique first (and maybe only) feat of its kind, all Slams, all Masters 1000, Tour Finals, Olympics and Davis Cup in a career? I've seen Diamond Slam floated around for instance.

Not exactly announced by the WTA, but it seems WTA Toronto behaved as a non-mandatory this year, with all missing top players excepted from a penalty and not forcibly counted as one of the Best 18 tournaments either. Maybe for the best? openerarankings.com/WTAHome?RankDa…

In a classic WTA style way, United Cup pts have been awarded as such 1 win - 32p 2 wins - 90p (or 108 if you are Muchova) 3 wins - 150p 4 wins - 325p (this was in the rules) 5 wins - 500p (also in the rules)

I see people are comparing #3 of these rankings to 2006's year end. A good friend of mine posited that the best approach is % of maximum points, reducing to Best of 18. 2006: Davydenko had 2825 / 10500, which is 26.9%. 2025: Zverev will be at 4910 / 21000 Mon, at 23.38%.
