Some of yโ€™all missed the fucking point. An abuser LOVES when everyone cannot collectively figure out who they are. They love that yโ€™all ignore SWers thatโ€™s why they go to the most vulnerable communities to be horrible people. The game changes if you simply start LISTENING. ๐Ÿ‘‚

They are forcing us to watch spectacles of death so we feel hopeless & become selfish in our complicity. In the face of this, insisting on life-disabled life, 'guilty' life, poor life, Indigenous life, Black life, Arab life, all the wretched of the earth-as precious, is our task.

It surprises lots of folks just how much of D.C.โ€™s land and parks (outside of the National Mall) are controlled by the federal government. And many of these, sadly, have been neglected over the years. (The Meridian Hill Park fountain is a case study in deferred maintenance.)

Every local DC organization should be not just allowing but encouraging their employees to take the time to be with the Free DC movement today and in the coming days and months. Without real home rule, all of our missions are undermined. Get off the sidelines!

The amount of power he has in all three branches of government is unprecedented in modern times it took decades of strategic planning pre trump to get here. Also its easier to destroy than to build.

Todayโ€™s move by Trump is pretty politically uncomfortable for Bowser, who has strategically avoided crossing him since January, and has actually preemptively done things to mollify him (erasing BLM Plaza, proposing a repeal of sanctuary city law, etc.)

Martin Austermuhle I think the lesson is there's no appeasing a bully -- they're only going to come back with more unwelcome, humiliating demands later.

To clarify, the Home Rule Charter does not permit a takeover of MPD, nor does todayโ€™s executive order put MPD under the command of the federal government. I know what was said at todayโ€™s presser, but there is a distance between the order and what was said.

Zachary Parker (@zacharyforward5) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Under Home Rule, the federal government may request the use of MPD resourcesโ€”this is not the same as taking control. The Constitution and District laws continue to apply. Pamela Smith is still the Chief of MPD.

That's the part that's ridiculous, we have been calling for fixes to these problems for years. And because of political games -- they haven't been addressed.

This is awesome. Are there any actions that DC residents and constituents can take -- I'm thinking of things like when we contact a representative (I know we don't have any) but are there any small directives citizens can take to support Council of DC in protecting Home Rule?
