Juneteenth marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday!

Yesterday, we celebrated Juneteenth! Today, we honor World Refugee Day. Every day is a good day to reach out to the people around you to show your love and support, and we welcome you at BC Libraries to borrow any resources you may need to do so!
