Our paper out today: “Spillover is an ecological process… While the human health issues arising from spillover events…are addressed by epidemiological and biomedical countermeasures…, the ecological aspects of spillover necessitate ecological solutions” nature.com/articles/s4146…

Great to see the Australian CDC up and running. Emerging infections in humans have ecological drivers, which are best addressed by ecological solutions. I look forward to seeing meaningful efforts towards incorporation of One Health approaches as the CDC continues developing

To vaccinate or not vaccinate against HPAI H5N1. Lots of factors, and of course contexts to consider. Can be a useful tool to control HPAI if done properly, but important to avoid further evolution and silent spread. 👉thelancet.com/journals/lanmi…

A #ProudSupervisorPost. Both of these wonderful humans started their field and lab intensive #PhDs at the start of the COVID pandemic. Both landed in Australia as the country went into lock-down. Their success is a credit to their spirit and determination🐳
