When you wonder why studios are more keen on influencers being given access over critics and why the line between the two is blurring, this is why. A professional soy-facer calling himself a critic telling critics how to do their job

Dan Reed was a documentary filmmaker who specialized in terrorism and war when he detoured into very different terrain, explosive in other ways entirely: the accusations of child sexual abuse that have followed Michael Jackson since 1993. bit.ly/4vLQmEm

Amadeus is great and textbook you could not make that about any artist of a recent era - when you need their consent or their estate’s for their music, and the plot has an absolutely libellous and essentially untrue portrait of a real contemporary in Salieri. Great film though

aside from just being unpleasant to look at, I think a problem with this type of shot is that it’s anti-immersive. the only world I can imagine outside of the frame is just actors and crew scrambling over each other to hit their marks

Everett’s in the right on that Larry David razor thin margin: it is reasonable to be bothered by noise, but not by laughter of children

how exactly does a critic “lose” bc audiences like a movie? that happens all the time. it’s not our job to stop people from seeing bad movies. all we do is write a review for a flat rate. we don’t get more for pans or less for raves. no one is lying and everyone should grow up.

really insane to see how many Michael Jackson fans were apparently somehow totally divorced from how he was perceived by the general public for the last like 30+ years.
