GLG always struck me as arrogant/sanctimonious and I feel that bled into his work. I'm with Herzog when he said cinema "isn't sitting in Cafés talking about politics".The Czech NW provided more in terms of cinematic innovation than the French.He didn't invent the Jump-cut either!
