I wasn't able to make it to Plumbers this year, but drgn contributor Stephen Brennan will be doing a joint session with the GNU poke developers about programmable debugging: lpc.events/event/16/contr…. 12 PM in the Toolchains Track. Check it out if you're attending!

Has ILP32 ever taken off? From what I can tell, x32 is basically dead, but I remember there was something similar in the works for ARM64.

Quite a few nice performance improvements in the main #btrfs merge for #Linux #kernel 6.1: git.kernel.org/torvalds/c/76e… "[…] support io_uring and buffered writes […] leads to speed improvement in IOPS (2x), throughput (2.2x), latency (depends, 2x to 150x) […]"

Announcing drgn/contrib/, an easy place to share drgn scripts! If you have a useful script but you don't have time to turn it into a proper helper/tool, open a pull request there. See github.com/osandov/drgn/t…

Who's still using Python 3.6? I really want to drop 3.6 support for drgn (github.com/actions/setup-… is the latest reason), but I suspect that wouldn't be nice for those using enterprise Linux distros

The main focus of my time for the last 8-9 months was sent to vger this morning: lore.kernel.org/all/2022113008… I'm super excited about the possibility of implementing scheduling policies with BPF. Very grateful to Tejun for leading the effort and allowing me to tag along for the ride.

drgn 0.0.22 is out now! Stephen Brennan contributed my favorite new feature: a method for listing all of the local variables in a stack frame. There are also new helpers for slab and XArrays, plus partial s390x support. See drgn.readthedocs.io/en/latest/rele… for the rest of the highlights.
