This Test match is behaving like a toddler who's been told they can choose how quickly they'd like to open their presents... #BBCCricket #Ashes

“As so often throughout this series, you could barely take your eye off the day’s play. “However, with 20 wickets falling and the genuine possibility of a second two-day Test in the space of four Ashes matches, questions have to be asked about the state of the playing surface.”

WTF! I went to bed at lunch, with England having made a REALLY GOOD START, but only 1/2 way through the 1st innings (which sounded like a great session for England Cricket); I NEVER thought Australia AND England’s 1st innings would have been over before the end of 1st day!

With light skies and no rain, spectators really do deserve a bit more rationale and explanation other than “weather conditions” #Ashes #AusvEng . The series has been starved of enough play already.

🗣 "I think Stokes has been off it in this series." Aggers says Ben Stokes has made too many mistakes as captain in this #Ashes series. 🤔

With the flick of the wrists and the raise of the bat, a star is born. The calmest man in Sydney, 22-year-old Jacob Bethell with a brilliant century. #BBCCricket #Ashes

Hope Gabby Logan’s family emergency is ok. Chappers is such a talent, how many people could jump off radio and straight onto MOTD.

Thoughts with Gabby Logan with whatever’s happened there Mark Chapman out of breath running over from the radio to take over is crazy Peak professionalism

Brilliant that by Chappers Proper professional jumping from radio to TV to fill in for Gabby Logan, hope all is well with her. No makeup and dressed for radio is superb 👌 Class act..

I don’t even understand why, when the NBA or NFL or whatever North American sports go on transatlantic jaunts to hold games in London, Paris, wherever, they stick to US National Anthem, not the British or French?!? What do they do in routine league games away to Canadian teams?

A reminder: the public still doesn’t know who this is. Young women and girls who come across this individual don’t know what he’s been accused of. Multiple times, over decades. Most people in the media, and many in football know exactly who it is. But we can’t say.

Just 12 years ago the first full-time contracts were handed to England’s women’s players, valued at around £40k p/a. Today an uncapped 18-year-old has been signed for £110k for less than a month’s cricket. The growth of the game in the last decade is simply astonishing.

County season arrives with fresh hope of domestic displays paving path to international stage - good to read this harbinger of spring & a good read as well, with a nice tone of optimism theguardian.com/sport/2026/mar…
