Anyone in London tomorrow for the farm protest? Please keep an eye out for placards or ephemera for the collection The Museum of English Rural Life. James Rebanks Joe Stanley SAPD at Reading Uni
Very sad to read. Devastating for Rural Museums Network and all in our corner of the sector to hear that the innovative wonder of Auchindrain Historic Township is facing closure. Solidarity with my amazing colleagues there, and at these other sites.
Great to find a final resting place for grandads leg, he lost his leg in farming accident in 1931, the guest appearance of the leg at NFU council started #lensleg farm safety campaign with John Charles-Jones & Stuart Roberts 🔸, off to Reading Uni Agric museum, grandad would be happy
Finally made it up to collect #LensLeg for The Museum of English Rural Life from Phil Latham. Phil’s grandfather Len lost a leg in the 1930s to a heavy horse. The leg became a symbol of farm safety. Johann Tasker 🇺🇦 wrote about it for Farmers Weekly. Beautiful day to see half of England!
Dr Ollie Douglas John Charles-Jones Stuart Roberts 🔸 You’re most welcome, hopefully it might spur someone to think about risks again, if it saves just one accident it’s been worth it.
