Imagine an 100% blackout in your country in the year 2022. Now imagine you are controlled by the richest country in the history of the world.

The U.S. launched a racist eugenics program in Puerto Rico in the 1930s — sterilizing about one third of Puerto Rican women by 1976, many forced or coerced. It was just one chapter of U.S. colonial eugenics programs and medical experiments targeting women of color. 🧵(1/8)

I will never forget the time I tried to explain chronic illness to a friend by asking her "ok so where are you in pain right now?" Because she looked at me, so confused and said "what do you mean...nowhere" And it hit me that I'd forgotten you're not supposed to feel pain at all.

I can't find the tweet but I want us to have more conversations giving savings tips to opt out of the workforce for a few months at a time to rest/travel/do nothing just because; I would love to tap in. I want this for every Black woman at least once in her life. We deserve it.

IDK if this is an Autistic thing, but I can tolerate a lot of poor treatment - until a point. Yet, when that point has been reached, I’m done for good. No amount of apologising/changing can win me over. It’s like there’s a switch, and when it’s been flicked, it can’t change back.

elle is trying so hard I heard someone make this same argument re:autism a while back, saying that the only people losing sleep over whether they are autistic, doing research, taking screening tests, etc, are generally autistic, because that's not something other folks do.Blew my mind.Makes perfect sense

In autistic spaces, we talk a lot about how non-autistic folks talk in code, but we need to talk more about how they listen for code, even when it's not there. You can tell them exactly what you mean and, because they're looking for code that isn't there, they will. not. get. it
