The past 20 minutes waiting for first pitch reminds me why I mute this shit.

So my Cowboys-Broncos game is muted (King of the World rocking on stereo) and I fleetingly saw this shot. I see a boom mike and a videographer closer than anything I’ve seen on an NFL sideline. Don’t know what to make of it all except to wonder what the fuck have we become?

I gotta wonder what Aaron Rodgers must’ve thought on his big revenge night when he walked into the locker room and saw what jerseys were hanging in front of everybody’s locker?

Doesn’t matter if it’s World Series Game 4 or Tuesday night in April, a game plan that intentionally walks the leadoff batter in the first inning seems absolutely bonkers to me. But that’s what people are talking about — not only a leadoff batter, but also the opposing pitcher!

I only ask because I saw the blurb where John Schneider hadn’t decided if he was going to IBB Ohtani in the first. I can’t imagine being in a position as a reporter even asking that question. Then to have the manager answer we haven’t yet made up our mind. Did I say bonkers?

In my life, I’ve heard the Jordan/LeBron; Montana/Elway!!/Brady; Bonds/Mays!!/etc. arguments about greatest all timers. At 70, I only hope I live long enough to ask some smart-ass whippersnapper “have you ever googled Shoei Ohtani?”

OK, just watching how quick the guy (Shoei, of course) gets to the bag on a grounder to first is something unique to what your eyes usually see.

Nobody in Massachusetts actually knows what "YIELD" means.

I understand the hype of Game 7. Ultimate sports thrill indeed. But we overlook #6. If game 6 hadn’t worked correctly we don’t have 7. So without 6 no freaking 7.

I remember when starting pitchers got pitch run for if by miracle they racked up a hit. I just watched one tag up from second and slide into third in the top of the first. Progress, baby.

Hate to sound like my father back when I got white cleats, but you gotta outlaw yellow. Gotta admit they are cool as shit, but it looks like a half dozen penalty flags thrown at once.

So in a couple years since retirement , I’ve seen enough of the Oxygen network to confidently say would-be criminals shouldn’t do their shopping at Walmart. Those cameras solve the majority of crimes, and the video at checkout is always less flattering than any booking photo.

Today ignites memories in veterans, and I’m no different. Those memories are among the greatest in a life lived well. I confidently tell how I knew Willie Mays stories, but rarely share navy experiences because everyone would think I was an exaggerating bullshitter.
