Canadian Jana Sam Hersh If a cancer treatment can extend a patient's life, even though it cannot cure the cancer, is it not worth it? If insulin can control diabetes, though not eliminate it, is it not success? Why in this disease are extending life and improving health not seen as worthy goals?

Harm reductionists aren't opposed to treatment; we welcome it. But it isn't a dichotomy: people need both supervised consumption sites to stay alive and accessible treatment options when they're ready. Policy must be rooted in evidence, not ideology. thetrillium.ca/news/municipal…

This is just one of many examples of governments engaging in "consultation" and then refusing to act on the findings of what is usually a very long and expensive process.

Have a listen to Les matins d'ici for my take on this week's disastrous decision by Doug Ford & announced by Sylvia Jones to reduce harm reduction capacity in Ontario. Pardon my French. ici.radio-canada.ca/ohdio/premiere… #DrugProhibitionKills #HarmReductionSavesLives #EndTheWarOnDrugs

Watched my sons set last night. He used drugs and lived unhoused for many years. Stigma in the healthcare system nearly killed him. Forced treatment wouldn’t have worked. Harm reduction kept him alive until he chose recovery. Dead people don’t recover. #harmreduction

I was most at risk of overdose when I didn't care if I overdosed. This is something professionals often just refuse to accept. If we want ppl to care about their life we need a focus on social justice. They are locked on a maze with all dead ends. What life?

OH LOOK đź‘€ Another Conservative opinion writer misleading his readers about the cause of the drug crisis. Meet @BrianLilley, writer for the Toronto Sun. In his column today, Brian claims the increase in drug poisoning deaths in Ontario is BECAUSE OF supervised injection sites.

Getting police support is complicated. Everyday, officers continue to be violent as fuck towards pwud. And, this support means something for alot of us feeling like we're in the twilight zone; when the systems benefiting from the drug war say "uhm, nah", its gotten pretty bad.
