Reminds me of the great Bob Monkhouse gag: "They all laughed when I said I wanted to be a comedian. Well, they're not laughing now."

After years of work, my secrets are finally out! I hope my new book with Oxford Academic will be of use to all scholars who, like me, are interested in what happens when esoteric secrecy meets popular culture

Avocet chicks hatch ready to run. Within hours, they’re wading through shallow lagoons, feeding themselves as they follow both parents along the water’s edge. The adults stay close, watching carefully and calling sharply at the first sign of danger. #SpringStories

These are two British good luck swastika charms from WW1. It was a popular luck symbol. Then, with the rise of the Nazis, people understandably got rid of them. The bottom one was made in 1916 from the frame of a zeppelin shot down in England, & was sold to help the war effort.

There’s nothing quite like the sight of our Voi herd racing in for their midday milk feed — ears flapping and trunks waving — they run down in groups, as our Keepers only have so many hands to feed them! For orphaned elephants, milk is more than a meal; it’s their lifeline.

The Petersyn Witch Fortune Telling Cup. Lovely design & an auction favourite. But information on its origin confused & scant. But I've finally found who Petersyn was & when it was first made - 1909.
