We have limited funding to support a few non-Sydney based PhDs’ local accommodation during the two-day conference. We will allocate the funds as fairly as possible by both the presenters’ needs and the time of abstract submission. How to apply - here: aacapstudies.com/2022/09/04/aac…

Russia's ultranationalist and mercenaries, who had briefly been appeased by Putin's mobilization announcement, are getting a heart attack now hearing that he also exchanged all Azov commanders and dozens more for Medvechuk - whom they despise. Instability in paradise.

Our star HDRs had an amazing time at #UQ Moreton Bay Research Station on #Minjerribah. We enjoyed the Nature's Wonderland of North Stradbroke Island while still trying to remain productive. Immense thanks to our Griffith HDR GGRS and Griffith Asia Inst for funding this trip, it was a blast!

Two decades ago, I asked Russian investigative journalist & human rights defender Anna Politkovskaya how she could keep doing what she did. For her reporting on abuses by Russian forces in the 2nd Chechen War, the military detained & beat her & subjected her to mock execution. 1/

This is the 1st week since I joined Griffith in 2014 that I'm not a member of the Centre for Governance & Public Policy (CGPP). Well, nobody is. As part of its "supercharging research" initiative, the university unplugged us. And didn't fund our new research centre proposal.

Delighted to have a new article out in the Journal of Contemporary Asia. It examines the role of pro-government unions in labour cooptation in Cambodia, contributing to knowledge of how party organisations help maintain autocratic stability on the ground. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
