Ever wonder how we get crucial ocean and weather data from #satellites? It all comes down to one remote, icy outpost: the Svalbard Satellite Station. From tracking wave heights and plankton to fighting illegal fishing, the data impacts our daily lives more than you’d think.

During our Around Africa Expedition w/ OceanQuest we created the first ever map of this large seamount on the Madagascar Ridge. Our mapping and ROV dives provided invaluable data about this unique habitat, which can inform policy makers on how to better protect this ecosystem.
