Sperm whale clicks are incredibly loud. They are in fact the loudest animals on earth and the sounds are so powerful they have the potential to do you serious harm (hypothetically anyway).

This April we welcomed on board 159 educators and 175 young learners with an interest in #ocean #science , #media , and operations, including university undergraduates who took part in our flagship Young Explorers Program, for the first time in #Singapore .

The #Megalodon was the biggest shark that ever lived, but people still wonder if it could be hiding out in the depths of the ocean somewhere. It went extinct about 3 million years ago — that's when it disappeared from the fossil record.

A #rare bioluminescent #deepsea squid swam by our #ROV in the #Seychelles . The Dana octopus squid has the largest photophores of any #bioluminescent creature.

This #Bryde 'swhale was filmed during a #helicopter survey in the #Seychelles . IDing an #ocean animal from a heli is difficult, so taking video to watch back helps. We know this a Bryde's #whale from its 3 ridges near its blowhole, distinguishing it from similar looking species.

This rarely seen defense strategy termed 'defense defecation' 'seemed to help the sperm whale pod escape what could have been a fatal attack by at least 30 killer whales.'
