Re: toxic fandom. At ENTERPRISE we once received a package from an angry Trek fan containing a broken model starship, cast pics cut out into letters spelling FUCK YOU and a letter telling us he was so angry he spit in the box. This was shortly after the anthrax attacks.

Had one of those elusive showrunner meetings. For a project I was really excited about. With great recs from the studio and from a SR I'd worked with previously. It didn't go my way. I run marathons and know how to keep going. But it's hard not to feel demoralized.

BRILLIANT MINDS is my favorite new broadcast series. Along with putting a gay man at its center without it being all about his sexual identity, it focuses less on miracle cures and more on paths to manage patients' conditions. Normalizing vs othering? I'm in!

There's a 2nd film buried inside CLOSE ENCOUNTERS about an exasperated mother of three who finds herself having to manage a fourth child -- her erratic, PTSD-suffering husband. That's the strength of #TeriGarr. If there'd ever been a sequel, I would've wanted it to be about her.

So calling Puerto Rico an island of garbage and saying Latinos are baby-makers is "criticism"? Also, is there EVER a time to say those things?
