Oakham School’s annual Singing Competition took place on Sunday 4 February. We were privileged to be joined by Sarah Fox & Gaynor Keeble, as our adjudicators. Overall Winner – Lily (Form 6) Overall Runner-up – Will (Form 7) Most Promising Young Singer – Charlie (Form 3)

Last week we held our annual Piano Duet Festival and with 76 pupils performing their duets, the event was a busy, fun-filled occasion. Well done to everyone who participated, especially the prize winners of each category. For a full article on the event, please see our website.

We welcome Oakham piano teacher, Victoria Bonham, and her duo partner, Dan Milverton, to perform an entertaining recital of music for saxophone and piano. Their one hour programme surveys colourful and contrasting works composed in the later decades of the 20th Century.

Congratulations to Nicola (F5) for her performance of Mozart's Violin concerto No. 3, movt. 1 in Suzhou Grand Bay Theatre, China. Nicola won the opportunity to solo with the Singapore Kids Philharmonic Orchestra as an alumni member, having auditioned in Singapore in October.

Written as a lullaby, Lully Lulla conveys a mother's sorrow and tenderness as she mourns her doomed child, when King Herod orders the killings of all male infants in Bethlehem. We hope you enjoy this tender and emotional carol, by Philip Stopford and sung by our Chapel Choir.

On the night before Christmas, we present 'Follow That Star' sung by our Chapel Choir. A jazzy Christmas celebration, this piece will be sure to have your toes tapping.
